Unfortunately, we all need to call a plumber at one time or another to fix a problem in our homes. If you don’t already know a plumber, here are seven things you should look for when searching for a full-service plumbing company:

1. Plumbing and drain repairs.

If your pipes aren’t running or draining properly, whether it’s the kitchen sink, bathtub or other fixture, a plumber can clear your lines and repair any issues they come across.

2. Water leak detection.

Sometimes you have a water leak but you don’t know exactly where it’s coming from. Water takes the path of least resistance so the place you see the water isn’t always the place where the break has occurred. A plumber can help you find where the leak originates and quickly repair the broken pipe, tap or hosebib.

3. Hot water heaters.

If you see water in the drip pan below your hot water tank, you need to have it taken care of quickly. A slow drip can become a large flow in a short period of time and usually means the bottom of the tank has corroded. If it’s not heating the water anymore, the heating element may have failed and those can sometimes be replaced without having to replace the entire tank. A reputable plumbing company can quickly figure out what the problem is and get it fixed accordingly.

4. Clogged toilets or drains.

No one enjoys having their toilets or drains back up. It’s messy, it’s smelly and it’s not a lot of fun to clean up. Your plumber can clear any blockages and get things running smoothly, usually in a short period of time. If needed, they can snake the lines to break up whatever is causing the problem.

5. Leaky taps.

Dripping taps are annoying. Taps that leak at the base are a pain. And both can cause damage if the water gets into places it’s not meant to be. Failed seals or o-rings can be an easy fix, but if you don’t know how to do the repair yourself, a plumber can easily help you with this.

6. Basement sump pumps.

Sump pumps are designed to pump water out of a space in the event of a flood or a backup of some kind. If the motor on your pump fails, the pump can’t do its job and you’ll end up with water all over the floor causing untold damage. Calling a plumber is the best and most time-efficient alternative.

7. Septic tank service.

If your property is serviced by a septic tank system, it’s vitally important for you to have a reputable plumbing company regularly service the equipment. Tanks need to be emptied, and the system needs to be maintained to ensure it continues to work as intended.

Having a plumbing company that can provide all of the above services is the best way to greatly reduce the amount of stress when a plumbing emergency arises.
